Doodle Devo Friday – Psalm 52:8

Today I thought I’d share a page from my devotional journal. I really enjoyed revisiting this verse. I long to live this verse “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of the Lord, I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.” Psalm 52:8

I completed it using only a black pen. Today I decided to add some color. Here’s a step by step process of what I did to add color. Here’s the finished product:

Ps 52:8

Here’s what I started with, I scanned the page in from my journal. I printed it out on cardstock.

I printed another one on regular paper and cut it out to use as a quick mask. I then added about an inch of water to a small spray bottle and added several droppers of ink. I think misted the background with blue ink. I taped it down (ideally do this before you begin applying ink or water color.) Today I used blue painters tape, but yellow or green frog tape is better.

Once that dried I use a brush an applied Sepia ink to the trunk and Prisma color pencils to the olive and the leaves. I used yellow and olive green for the olives and a teal, dark teal and kelly green for the leaves.
