Weekly Bible Doodle Challenge – Bread

Bread

Weekly Challenge - Bread

Did you know that Bread is mentioned in the Bible over 500 times? This is a great icon to add to your Bible visual library. Bread has many meanings—food for nourishment, eternal food, or provisions. It symbolizes worship when we take the bread for communion to spend time in His presence. We break bread with family and friends. Bread is life-giving.

Drawing a loaf of bread is simply drawing an oval. The key to making it look like bread and not a rock is to put three lines at the top to show the scoring of the dough and to put some shadow at the bottom to create a rounded object. You can certainly experiment with drawing a slice of bread we use today with the little round top to challenge yourself further.

I added a bonus how to draw wheat too!

Challenge:

Find one of these 500 verses and illustrate the verse. Write a short journal entry in your sketchbook about how bread has blessed your life, or a memory where bread was involved. Here are two verses I illustrated using Bread.

Sermon notes

Here’s an example where I used bread in my sermon notes. I drew them a little small, I think it would have been more impactful on my notes if they were bigger. Dont be afraid to draw bigger images in your notes. They will draw attention to the important things and help you remember things better.

Stay tuned for next week’s challenge. Use #bibledoodlechallenge when posting your images on Instagram or FaceBook
