Sketchnote Challenge – Day 10

Day 10

Welcome to Day 10! Can you believe we are almost halfway through with this challenge? I am so awed and impressed by how all of you are keeping up with the daily activities, and if you’re just starting out no worries or if you’re a few days behind, post when you can. This challenge is not meant to be stressful.

Today we are going to use our block letter font but raise the middle bar for a different look. A lot of Art Deco fonts have raised and lowered middle bars. Art Deco is a style of art from the 1920s.

Today’s challenge is to start a monthly calendar and doodling an icon for every day to help you remember what was happening that day. In the video, I have a calendar from Bev Wicher who used it for her daily devotionals. Bev is also a visual faith coach with Visual Faith Ministries. Here’s my calendar.

ICON Round up and Sermon Sketchnote Process Review

Day 10

In the video today I highlighted some of our Facebook Group’s icon postings. I didn’t have time to include everyone’s, but I selected a few that were simple and quick to draw. Remember we need to keep our images simple so we can keep up with the speaker. We always want our pen to be moving so we don’t miss key points.

I also reviewed the process for taking sermon sketchnotes.

  1. Get there early and letter in the Title (if you know it), the location, speaker, and date.
  2. Keep you subtitles smaller than the main title, but larger than the normal text.
  3. Visually separate your topics with container boxes and show the flow of the information with arrows.
  4. Add icons As It Makes Sense – this will come naturally the more you practice.

I can’t wait to see what you all accomplish this weekend. You all are doing fantastic!

Blessings, Marsha
