Inktober

Hi everyone,

I’m back. It’s been a stressful year. I have had a lot of family issues to deal with and my focus has been there and not here. I miss everyone and I  miss doing art. Things look like they’re settling down a bit, so I thought I’d get back into posting with a challenge. Inktober is a 31 day drawing challenge started by Jake Parker in 2009. Jake was about getting people to just put pencil to paper and draw. His premise is that if you draw daily you will improve. “Shoot for something that’s going to push you.” “It’s not about making the greatest drawings, it’s about developing positive drawing habits.”

If you search on #inktober2018 you will find a lot of halloweenish themes and ghoulish things – so be prepared for what you see when you search.

I decided to stretch my visual vocabulary and apply each word to a bible verse. On Fridays I will post my Inktober drawings.

But in the meantime, here are the rules if you want to get participate:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it online

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2018

4) Repeat

Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

That’s it! Now go make something beautiful.

31 day challenge
